Councilman Vernonell Smith Plans Heights High School Grounds Cleanup For Saturday 6/30

Andrew Trzaska | June 25, 2012

At Monday’s Muskegon Heights city council meeting, councilman Vernonell Smith encouraged anyone in the community to help a cleanup effort this coming Saturday for Muskegon Heights Public Schools.

Smith referred to the cleanup as Operation Cleanup, and he cites the financial and staffing uncertainty the district faces as a reason for organizing the cleanup.

Smith stated that those looking to help out should bring any lawn equipment or supplies they have, including lawn mowers, trimmers, and yard waste bags.

The cleanup is open to all people who want to help and will start at the Muskegon Heights High School parking lot at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 30. If enough volunteers come, Smith noted that the group would fan out to other buildings.

“Come out and donate an hour, hour and a half or even just drop off water,” said Smith.
