23 stab wounds were counted on the body of Muskegon’s 28-year old Talfreida “Freida” Covington when she was found dead on the sidewalk in front of her house on June 30, 1991.

Her murder has not been solved to this day.

Described by her mother as sometimes “too trusting” but a loving mother and Christian by her mother Anna Crockett on DelayedJustice.com, She left behind a daughter (age 5 at the time), a son (age 3 at the time) and was also two months pregnant when she was killed.

Covington’s daughter was staying with Crockett on the night of her slaying, but her son was with Covington at their home at 2109 Valley.  He told police that he woke during the night due to a loud argument, but he returned to bed upon his mother’s instructions to do so.

Reports said that loud voices were heard around 5:30 a.m. that night.  Her body was found at 6:44 a.m. in front of her house by someone going by.
