Theft of snow plow blades & power units

Theft of snow plow blades & power units in the City of Muskegon.

The Muskegon Police Department would like to make the public aware of the theft of snow plow blades and power units in the City of Muskegon.  The thefts are under investigation.

Since last Friday several local businesses and the Muskegon County Baker Complex have had the theft of “BOSS” brand plows or power/control units from vehicles.  The estimated loss is around $15,000 total at this time.

It is believed there are several suspects using a pick up truck to haul the plow blades and equipment away after removing it from the vehicle (s).  The suspects have cut locks on fences to gain access to parked vehicles and plows.

We want to warn retailers and business owners who store plows outside or have vehicles parked outside with plows on them that they should attempt to secure them inside a locked building and also to keep the area well lighted at night.  Also, any business with surveillance media should make sure it is on and working when they leave for the day.

If anyone sees a suspicious vehicle or persons in and around retailers or businesses after hours, they are asked to notify police immediately.

If you have any information on these or any other thefts, please call the Muskegon Police Department at 231-724-6750 during business hours or Silent Observer 231-722-7463.
