Shooting last night on Wood street in Muskegon

Officers of the Muskegon Police Department are investigating a shooting which was reported at 1:30am this date. Responding officers were originally sent to a shots fired and loud party complaint at a home in the 900 block of Wood St.

While on the scene of the shots fired/loud party complaint, officers were advised that a subject was being treated in the emergency room of a local hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg. It was later determined that the victim was shot in the 900 block of Wood Street prior to officers being called there.

The victim is a 16 year old Muskegon resident. He was treated for non life threatening injuries at a local hospital and released.

Neither the victim nor witnesses can or are providing information on what occurred and who the assailants (s) are. Officers do not believe this to be gang related at this time and a motive for the shooting has not been determined.
