Shooting in Muskegon

On Saturday February 1st, 2014 at 2305 hours Officers of the Muskegon Police Department were sent to the 1900 block of Hoyt St on the Southside of the City on a report of multiple shots fired with a residence struck by gunfire. Initial reports indicated gunfire erupted between subjects inside of 1959 Hoyt St and several subjects in front of that residence. Reports also indicated that at least two distinctly different sounding guns were fired. The subjects outside were last seen fleeing the scene heading South toward Muskegon Heights.

Responding Officers arrived to find no injured persons. Evidence was located in the yard of 1959 Hoyt supporting reports that multiple shots had been fired. Several witnesses were identified, but most were found to be uncooperative.

Officers found that a teen party was being held inside of 1959 Hoyt. Officers located evidence of illicit drug use inside. The 17 year old son of the female homeowner was detained and charged with obstruction. His 38 year old mother, who was in the home at the time of the incident also faces criminal charges.
