Social Justice Commission (Sept.2010)

Press Release from the Social Justice Commission:

I am pleased to welcome you to the Queen Esther Missionary Baptist Church to announce the formation of the Social Justice Commission of Muskegon County.  This commission is the united efforts of the faith community, the education, criminal justice and social agencies of Greater Muskegon County,  We, the Social Justice Commission believe very strongly that the safety and health of our community summons us to this particular hour.

This commission shall seek to provide leadership within this community in a trifold effort.

First, to unite individuals and groups together to stand against violence and to provide a path of success for individuals who seek to be healthy contributing members of our community.

Secondly, to reconnect the criminal justice system to the heart of the local community;

whereby individuals can partner with law enforcement for healthy daily living.

Thirdly, to be the instrument to aid the local educational systems of our community to prepare our students for involvement within the stability of our country.

The Social Justice Commission is pleased to announce a Gun Buyback Program which will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011.  This effort will seek to address the vast amount of weapons that are present within the streets of our community.  This effort will be held at the Corinthians Missionary Baptist Church located at 2027 Peck Street in the city of Muskegon Heights, Michigan.  Further information concerning this effort will be forthcoming.

It is the desire of this commission that every citizen will join with us to heal the disease of pain that is alive within this community.
