First-Ever HEALTHY Muskegon Day to Explore Community Food Efforts in Muskegon, Muskegon Heights

MUSKEGON, Mich. — The Community Foundation for Muskegon County (CFMC) invites you to learn more about community food work happening locally at its first annual HEALTHY Muskegon Day on Thursday, September 26 from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The day’s events will begin with lunch and networking, followed by a presentation by Dan Carmody of Eastern Market in Detroit titled “Building Communities through Food.” The afternoon will continue with an update on HEALTHY Muskegon, trolley tours of HEALTHY Muskegon grantees, and a local food reception at the Foundation.

This free event is open to all who have an interest in community food systems or the health of Muskegon and Muskegon Heights. Business leaders, educators, and those in health-related fields are especially encouraged to attend.

HEALTHY (Healthy Eating and Access – Local Teams Helping Youth) Muskegon is an initiative designed to increase access to and consumption of local healthy foods, in an effort to build a community-based food system in the cities of Muskegon and Muskegon Heights. The project is funded in part by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

The Community Foundation for Muskegon County was created in 1961 to improve the quality of life for Muskegon County residents. A publicly supported community endowment, the Foundation receives and manages contributions from community citizens and organizations that are committed to the future of Muskegon County.
